I’M BACK!  Not that anyone really knew I was gone… But on Saturday night my computer exploded…. litterally…. A capacitor in the power supply blew up and left me without a computer for about 16 hous… Yes… only 16 hours, cuz me being the nerd that I am, I needed this puppy up and running ASAP.  I have finals projects due today and tomorrow that are only on here!  Luckily it was only a 10v capacitor that blew and not one of the 200v ones so I only had to replace the power supply and it didn’t take anything else with it via a power surge or anything, AND I’m thankful that it didn’t catch my room on fire since it was against my bed and I wasn’t home… and the inside DID burn pretty nice… my room REAKED!  But, I have a friend named Evan who owns a computer store back home.  I graduated with him from High School and now he employs practically ever compter nerd I know… ANYWAY, he hooked me up with a supply at his cost.  Good friend to have, ya know?  OK…. I think I can make this work now…. Here’s the deal…. These pics are my final project for my photography 382 class… I have to clean up some dirt marks yet, but this is the good majority of it… I am only turning in 8-10 of these, so give me some feedback… which ones DON’T fit… tell me why you don’t like them or what makes them not work… word?  word.

Ya got that?  Which ones do you like, dislike, love, hate, want to lick madly?  I am pretty sure I’m not including #9 since the focus on it sucks… The flower is out, which is fine, but the pollen didn’t focus well either…. bah.  Let me know and wish me luck!

    Ditch #1 and #4.

#1: All of the other pictures are of flowers opened up, but #1 is closed and doesn’t fit.

    #4: Just looks weird…

    agreed with dugan

Hm.  I don’t know… you said #9 is out.  I really like #1 – the green looks like praying hands, and the veins are incredible… it’s pointed up (left) to heaven, too… #2 also looks like it’s ‘praising’ to me… if I’m gonna go with the ‘praise’ theme, #3 and #4 just don’t fit.  #5 and #6 and #7 #8 and #12 do… but #10 doesn’t – I’m not gonna tell you what I see there, due to the horizontal of it… #11 kinda fits, but it’s not quite facing heavenward… (but then, I’m a perfectionist…)

So what does that leave?  1,2,5,6,7,8,12 and possibly 11… that’s just eight.  You may wish to disregard this comment.  ((LoL!!))

  • i dont like 4 and 9 cause they seem really out of focus.. anywho.. love the roses! my favorite

I like 2 and 3, (they’re not the ONLY ones I like, but they’re my favourites!) but I do NOT like 4!

  • tbernard says:

See *I* like 4 a lot because the focus is different.  The part you focused on is the most neccessary part of the flower, but it’s the part people don’t want to see. Tell your professor that it’s a metaphor for society, you’ll get extra points.

  • Lachesis says:

I agree that #4 is a little too out of focus to fit, and if I had to eliminate any others (which I would hate to do) I was also struck with the idea that the ones in bud did not necessarily fit with the ones in full bloom. Beautiful work though!!

  • WOW Brent.. that’s just beautiful… I want your camera and your oh-so-great skills… Although number 2 won’t come up on my computer for some reason, my FAVORITES are 5 and 6. They’re amazing.. will you send me a copy so i can make them my desktop?! Third place for me is 10. I like the offset and the symmetry of the core. The petals have great smooth detail and best yet- it’s yellow! BTW: what flower shop did you raid??

  • woops…. my NUMBER three is 11! Sorry about that!

Actually… I got really lucky and stopped at a store that most of us know… but don’t know this little fact…. (I did, that’s why I went there …)  The largest flower vendor in the U.S.  Know what it is?  KROGERS.  They sell more flowers than any other florist in the nation… so I got really lucky and stoppedi n the B.G. Krogers… the lady working hooked me up with all these flowers for 3 bucks… see… after they have them out for 5 days they can’t sell them cuz they’re gonna die in a few days… So they put them in back until they throw them out… So these are all un-sellable…. OR…. really cheap….   She gave me the fat hook-up… And yes, they all were dying in 3 days despite fresh water and flower food… and re-cutting the stems… no nutrients from soil… lack of sun… lack of roots…. buh bye flowers.  They spent their remaining days in Sarah’s room…. I’m such a great boyfriend… ::thinks back on conversation::

“Here honey… have a bunch of dying flowers that I picked up for 3 bucks….”

    Yeah…. I’m great.

For what it’s worth, I liked 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 11, and 12. 1 was also quite good. It really is amazing to see God’s splendor in nature. There is such an order to it that just defies any other explanation. It’s really cool.
