So I’m workin down at the front desk today… and one of my fellow RA staff members is talking to a friend about how she isn’t gonna graduate early despite her ability to do so…. She wants to stay… and I asked, “WHY!?!??!  It costs money to stay here!”  Now she actually had a legitimate reason… but her side comment was what REALLY bothered me… “I’m on a scholarship anyway….”

I asked her what for and she replied, “Academics.”  Now understand that I myself got a 4.163 GPA in High School and a 30 on my ACT score…. I was offered 1/4 the cost of full tuition…  OK… now understand that after our conversation I found out that her GPA was 3.7 and her ACT was 25…. so why is she on a full ride and I’m not?????  I’ll tell you.  Because she is African American.

I’m not a racist person… I have friends of all kinds of backgrounds, races, ethnicities, beliefs…. etc…. but the moment that I hear crap like that, I get furious…. why am I being discriminated against just because I am a white male…. Why do I end up with $20,000 worth of debt in loans when I’m done with college and she owes nothing???  WHEN I’VE OBVIOUSLY gotten better academic marks….

So the argument is passed off as, “Well… you’ve been better educated as a youth… better schools… so minorities never had a chance to compete with you…. so their standards are lower….”  EVEN IF that was the case….

1)  They’re adults in college now… they can work through it just the same as the rest of us!

2)  If compensation IS necessary to make up for a lifetime of bad school systems, is it really necessary to be THAT big of a difference???  3.7 and a 25!!!  COME ON!

So I was pretty cheesed off…. I’m poor… my parents aren’t helping me…. Just cuz I’m white… I have to be in debt…. ….. way to go human rights movements… thanks for screwing me over….. it’s not about equality… it’s about superiority….

I totally agree w/ you on that one! I know a guy whose parents are totally paying for his university education, paying for his apartment/house out here, bought him a car, he doesn’t work, and he’s also getting about 8000 bucks a year from the government for his tuition (he goes to my school, tuition is about 4500 per year), so he’s got basically 8000 bucks to do whatever he wants with every freakin year, and do you know why he gets that much from the government? Because his dad owns his own business….well..that’s all fine and dandy, but obviously his dad is making out fine, and this guy does not need 8000 bucks a year! Now, I on the other hand, work 7 days a week in the summer, 8 or 9 hours a day, for just above minimum wage, and I was given 600….that’s right…six hundred….towards my tuition….the world just freakin sucks when it comes to this sort of thing!! It’s never fair!

  • Yeah! We should make everyone that has a full ride pull rickshaws for the PAYING college students.

HAHAHAHA  Sarah has a full ride….   But she just got hers cuz shes a REALLY smart white girl…. er something…. I don’t know… my theory is blown when I call her really smart, yet she is still dating me… …. although, she still pays for room and board, and books, and a meal-plan… so she really has a half-ride…
